A Safe Space - Allowing your pet the freedom to access the entire house while you're away may be unsafe. This is especially true for young puppies and kittens. Some pets might have a tendency to do things like chew on cords or get into the garbage can. Limiting them to a single area or kennel training are good options to help keep your pets safe.

Prevent Boredom - Some pets are perfectly happy just sleeping all day, while others need things to do. Boredom can cause destructive behavior and your pet could end up hurting himself. Try leaving a treat dispenser that will keep your pet busy for hours focusing on trying to get the treats out. Each day, put out a toy or two. As long as you have a good variety of toys, you don't have to buy more - just alternate which toys are offered so everyday the toys are exciting and "new" to your pet.

Water - Alot of water bowls can easily be knocked over. Always make sure your pet has plenty of fresh water and use a good sturdy bowl to prevent spillage.

Fire - We recommend the use of monitored smoke detectors so you will be alerted of a fire while you are away. This is your best chance of responding as quickly as possible to get your furbabies out of there. There are also window decals available that indicate what pets are in the home so that firefighters are made aware in an emergency situation.

Physical Activity: While all pets need a good amount of physical activity to maintain optimal health; there are several breeds of both cats and dogs that are naturally very high energy. These pets need the activity each day because the lack thereof causes them to feel anxious and often leads to unwanted behaviors. If a large backyard isn't available, then regular walks is quite necessary. Doggy daycare can also be a great addition.
